Tabaco City
-is a city in the province of Albay in the Philippines. It is one of the three component cities of the province, along with Legazpi City and adjoining Ligao City. The mainland part of the city is bordered by the town of Malinao to the north, the towns of Polangui and Oas to the west, Ligao City to the southwest, Malilipot town to the southeast, and Lagonoy Gulf to the east.

they also visit the CHURCH of TABACO:
Visita Iglesia: St. John the Baptist, Tabaco

Tabaco Church in Tabaco, Albay was founded by the Franciscans in 1587 under the patronage of San Juan Bautista. Formerly a visita of Cagsawa, it was separated in 1616 and became an independent parish in 1664. In 1750 its administration was handed over to the secular priests.

The church of San Juan Bautista in Tabaco City is one of the most stately religious structures in the province of Albay. According to the Estado Geografico Estadistico Historico written in 1805 by Father De Huerta, the recorded history of the city began in 1587 through the missionary work of the Franciscan Fathers. A church dedicated to St. John the Baptist, the city’s patron saint, was first built in Tabaco in 1616 by Fr. Pedro De Alcareso. The construction of the present church started in 1864 and was completed in 1879. The Tabaco Church is unique among Philippine churches because the stones used to build the church bears the distinct marks of the Masons.
According to local folklore, when the Spanish first arrived in Tabaco, they approached a native and asked the name of the place. The native, who was a jealous father and didn’t understand Spanish, thought they were trying to take his daughter. His response was Tabac Co! Tabac Co! meaning My Bolo! My Bolo! His daughter brought his bolo, but by that time, the Spanish had already assumed he was referring to the name of the place. The recorded history of the city begins with the arrival of the missionary Franciscans 1587.

The candidates also try the local business:

   Abaca Handicraft:

Abaca handicrafts is one of the best selling products in the Philippines. This is undoubtfully true because Philippines is considered as the abaca capital all over the world. Products made from abaca are genuine and firm that's why many exporters keep on ordering abaca products such as bags, lamps, basket, and thread.

Blacksmiths (famous “tabak and gunting”):

‘Tabak’ is symbolic of the people’s time-tested values of cooperation and teamwork simply because this blade of bolo is forged by two blacksmiths called locally as ‘panday’ who alternately hammer on the steel to mold it into its final form. In fact, my grandfather who happens to be wed with a Tabaquena is the first blacksmith I have ever known in my life.

Pedicab (PADYAK)

the candidates enjoy riding in the pedicab or padyak they act drive the pedicab and there passenger is the padyak driver. They had a nice luxurious moments and experience in the town of Tabaco City. Their passionate nature and fiery disposition hide just beneath their calm and laid-back exterior and this altogether makes for a remarkable and unusual combination.

Tabaco is known for its professional, highly-skilled and cost-effective labor force. The City’s human resource is a healthy mix of skilled artisans – abaca handicraft makers, wood carvers and furniture makers, and blacksmiths (makers of the famous “tabak and gunting” or handmade metal cutlery only found in Tabaco)

BICOL ORIGIN

PHILIPPINES

Island country of Southeast Asia in the western Pacific Ocean. It is an archipelago consisting of some 7,100 islands and islets lying about 500 miles (800 km) off the coast of Vietnam. Manila is the capital, but nearby Quezon City is the country's largest city. Both are part of the National Capital Region (Metro Manila), located on Luzon, the largest island. The second largest island of the Philippines is Mindanao, in the southeast. Outstanding physical features of the Philippines include the irregular configuration of the archipelago, the coastline of some 22,550 miles (36,290 km), the great extent of mountainous country, the narrow and interrupted coastal plains, the generally northward trend of the river systems, and the spectacular lakes. The islands are composed primarily of volcanic rock and coral, but all principal rock formations are present. The mountain ranges for the most part run in the same general direction as the islands themselves, approximately north to south.

PHILIPPINES(BICOL, REGION V)
People (Ethnic Groups) The ethnically diverse people of the Philippines collectively are called Filipinos. The ancestors of the vast majority of the population were of Malay descent and came from the Southeast Asian mainland as well as from what is now Indonesia. Contemporary Filipino society consists of nearly 100 culturally and linguistically distinct ethnic groups. Of these, the largest are the Tagalog of Luzon and the Cebuano of the Visayan Islands, each of which constitutes about one-fifth of the country's total population. Other prominent groups include the Ilocano of northern Luzon and the Hiligaynon of the Visayan islands of Panay and Negros, comprising roughly one-tenth of the population each. The Samaran (Waray) of the islands of Samar and Leyte in the Visayas and the Bicol (Bikol) of the Bicol Peninsula together account for another one-tenth. Filipino mestizos and the Pampango (Pampangan, or Kampampangan) of south-central Luzon each make up small proportions of the population.

BICOL(REGION V)
also spelled Bikol, Spanish Bicolano

fifth largest cultural-linguistic group in the Philippines, numbering about 4,070,000 in the late 20th century. Their indigenous region is commonly considered to be “Bicolandia,” a region composing part of the Bicol Peninsula and neighbouring islands of southeast Luzon. The Bicol are largely an agricultural and rural people, producing rice, coconuts, and hemp. Nearly all of them are Roman Catholics. Their language is closely related to others of the central Philippines, all of which belong to the Austronesian (Malayo-Polynesian) family of languages.
Many smaller groups of indigenous and immigrant peoples account for the remainder of the Philippines' population. The aboriginal inhabitants of the islands were the Negritos, a term referring collectively to numerous peoples of dark skin and small stature, including the Aeta, Ita, Agta, and others. Those communities now constitute only a tiny percentage of the total population. From the 10th century, contacts with China resulted in a group of mixed Filipino-Chinese descent, who also account for a minority of the population. Small numbers of resident Chinese nationals, emigrants from the Indian subcontinent, U.S. nationals, and Spanish add to the population's ethnic and cultural diversity.
Bicol Region is volcanic in origin and part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. Known as the Bicol Volcanic Arc or Chain, the volcanoes are the results of the Philippine Sea Plate subducting under thePhilippine Mobile Belt, along the Philippine Trench. Volcanism is evident by the number of hot springs, crater lakes, and volcanoes that dot the region starting from Mount Labo in Camarines Norte to the Gate Mountains in Matnog, Sorsogon. Mayon Volcano is the most prominent of the volcanoes in the region, famous for its almost perfect conical shape and for being the most active in the Philippines. Its eruptions have repeatedly inflicted disasters on the region, but during lulls in activity, it is a particularly beautiful mountain.
The southernmost tip of the peninsula is dominated by Bulusan Volcano, the other active volcano in the region. Tiwi in Albay and the Bacon-Manito area between Sorsogon and Albay are the sites of two major geothermal fields that contribute substantially to the Luzon Power Grid.
(Area) Bicolanos live in the southeastern peninsula of Luzon, now containing the provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes,Masbate, and Sorsogon. Many Bicolanos also live near in the province of Quezon.
(Demographics) The Bicolanos number about 5,907,000.They are descended from the Austronesian-speaking immigrants who came from Southern China during the Iron Age. Some Bicolanos also have Chinese, Arab, and Spanish admixtures. Their language is referred to as Bicol or Bicolano. The Bicolano language is very fragmented, and its dialects are mutually incomprehensible to speakers of other Bicolano dialects. The majority of the Bicolano people are devout Roman Catholics. Catholic Mass is celebrated daily in many churches in the Bicol Region.
(Culture) The Bicolano cuisine is primarily noted for the prominent use of chili peppers and gata (coconut milk) in its food. A classic example is the gulay na lada, known outside the region as Bicol Express, a well-loved dish using siling labuyo (native small chillies) and the aforementioned gata.
